ACM 2019 Updates: Keith Urban Joins Lineup, Jessie James Decker and Lauren Alaina as Award Presenters, and More

As the ACM Awards is fast approaching, we learn more about the star-studded event.

The Academy of Country Music Awards honors the country musicians that have impacted the genre and the industry as a whole in the previous year. Along with the awards show, ACMs weekend will consist of ACM Party for a Cause, which raises money for ACM Lifting Lives.

It will be aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7 at 8 PM ET on CBS.

Luke Bryan and Keith Urban to Perform at the ACM Awards

Another round of performers was announced just days before the 54th ACM Awards in Las Vegas. The lineup includes two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan. He will debut his new single “Knockin’ Boots.” While, other artists who are set to perform are Old Dominion, Blake Shelton – who will sing his new single “God’s Country, and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Keith Urban.

Previously announced performers include George StraitMiranda LambertChris StapletonMaren Morris Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean and more. Host Reba McEntire and previously announced ‘Artist of the Decade’ Jason Aldean will also lend his star power on stage.

Urban on ‘Entertainer of the Year’

In a press release, Urban commented that he believes that the category may need to change its name.

“Well, I know the criteria isn’t purely about live performance. but I’ve always felt that that’s what it is, otherwise I thought it probably should be called Artist of the Year.”

The awards show presenters also consist of an all-star cast. Presenters will include country artists Lauren Alaina, Clint Black, Jessie James Decker, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Midland, Carly Pearce, Michael Ray, and Cole Swindell.

They will also be joined by TV and film stars like Beth Behrs, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones, Jay Hernandez, Nancy O’Dell, Dennis Quaid, and Wilmer Valderrama, as well as Pro Racer Danica Patrick.
