Growing up in the wings of theaters across the country, watching their legendary mother sing, twins Peggy and Patsy Lynn were no strangers to great fortune within the music industry – but more than that, their deep knowledge and love for music have always been much bigger.

Born on August 6, 1964, Peggy and Patsy knew that becoming a singer wasn’t a matter of having a grand dream or vision coming to reality; it was just a fact! But it actually took nineteen years when the twin sisters, each with different passions, decided in 1996 that they would start a band and sing together.

What made them stand out is that they never let on being Loretta Lynn‘s youngest daughters. They chose to do hard work to earn a place in the industry – and they sure did!

They Sure Are Independent Women

After Peggy and Patsy Lynn landed a job as the house band at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, they wound up getting a recording contract. The duo recorded an album that ranked two singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart – including the fiery ballad “Woman To Woman,” which the twins wrote together.

The song, about a woman making it clear that she has no intentions of letting her man slip away with another woman, became a huge hit. In fact, it helped them earn a CMA nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year in both 1998 and 1999.

In this old clip we’ve found of the television show Girl’s Night Out, which was hosted by some of the legendary women of country music: Jo Dee Messina, Terri Clark, and Tanya Tucker, The Lynns graced the audience with an incredible performance of “Woman To Woman.”

Before they began singing, the two talked about how special this song is, especially since it came from personal experience. “This is for all you ladies here tonight,” The Lynns said before kicking off their performance. The crowd can’t help but go wild! You can check it out in the video below.
