George Strait celebrated fifty years of marriage with his wife, Norma Strait, last December 4 – which happened to be the second of the two-night ‘Strait To Vegas’ show at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Norma was also in attendance.

The King of Country then paused his show to briefly look back on their years together and to pay tribute to the love of his life. “So, I was nineteen years old. And I knew this girl, Norma, she was seventeen, really hot,” he said. The concert camera then panned to Norma, to where she was sitting in the audience, smiling in amusement.

The crowd can’t help but applaud such a wonderful couple. Strait went on dedicating his 1992 country No. 1 hit, “I Cross My Heart,” to his wife. Things got even more exciting when the crowd sang along with every word.

As the romantic ballad came to an end, George Strait pointed to Norma and wished her a “Happy anniversary!”

George Said Norma Was The First Girl He Ever Loved

George and Norma grew up together in the small-town Pearsall, Texas, and have known each other almost all of their lives. The couple eloped in Mexico on December 4, 1971, and had an intimate church ceremony back home. This was shortly before George joined the military and was dispatched to Hawaii.

Life may have not always been roses for the Straits, but they have relished decades of deep love, a lovely relationship, and have been graced with a beautiful family.

Tune in to the video below to watch George serenading Norma with “I Cross My Heart” as they celebrate another year of a wonderful journey together. It’s never too late to send your happy anniversary wishes, too.
