Released in 2008 as the first single off his third studio album Wide Open, Jason Aldean’s “She’s Country” took the singer’s career off at an overwhelming rate.

The song was absolutely a big hit for Aldean, landing No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart while peaking at No. 29 on Billboard Hot 100. It also earned a double-platinum status for selling over 1,600,00 copies in the United States, making Aldean the second best-selling male solo country artist.

Story Behind The Song

Written by Danny Myrick and Bridgette Tatum, “She’s Country” will introduce you to a girl who is country in every single thing – from her cowboy boots to the song she plays down to the prayers she prays.

It has been a while since an anthem to country girls has come along, so the song basically took on a life of its own. According to Tatum, the song came to her while she was driving, and she had to pull over at Target’s parking lot just to sing the track on her phone. Then, she brought it to Myrick – who added guitar riffs to the song.

Nevertheless, “She’s Country” had Aldean singing so quickly she somewhat appeared to be almost rapping – this is combined with banjo, fiddle, and hard rock-leaning power chords, making it something you don’t usually hear from Aldean.

Still, it brought the country sounds he introduced in earlier songs to another level, unfolding what would turn out to be his signature country-rock sound.

The song is accompanied by two music videos – with the first one featuring a live performance, and the second music video was based on the studio version of the song. You can enjoy “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean by playing the video below.
