Releasing her second album, Maren Morris’ “Girl” is a much-awaited follow-up to the singer’s huge hit “The Middle” and her debut record Hero. It was released to American country radio on January 18, 2019- co-written by Sarah Aarons and produced by Greg Kurstin.

It’s a song about that sort of remorse that everybody has to address and learn from, and about losing control over your emotions and just acknowledging the truth that you’re human, and we all need to face it. The singer also realized that she was not composing for another girl but herself. As it were, she is encouraging and sharing inspirations to subdue inferiority complexes. Among the sources of these guilty consciences are judgments from other people and day-to-day life. Hence, she is advising herself not to assess her own worth just on what others think and say.

Therefore, it is just a single derived from self-fulfillment and acknowledgment that nobody is perfect. “Girl” by Maren Morris is a song for everyone that is now undergoing the human life of sometimes days are dark, and you hate yourself. However, like how the song ends, ‘Everyone’s going to be okay’ – a very encouraging and hopeful statement.

Most of Maren Morris’ songs are written and recorded not only for her but for all who would listen to them. She wants to make people regain strength and also allow herself to release the negativity inside of her.

The song reached #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and #8 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It also earned #5 on the Canada Country Billboard. The song was certified Platinum by the RIAA and Music Canada.
