Last March 1, 2021, KTBC reporter Rudy Koski tweeted photos of Willie Nelson’s wife, Annie D’Angelo, bundled up and providing COVID-19 vaccinations in a drive-thru vaccination line at Kelly Reeves Stadium in Austin, Texas. According to Koski, the Family Hospital Systems deputized D’Angelo after she received her second dose of vaccine last January. Nelson himself reshared the photos as well.

Country music legend Willie Nelson had been very vocal about his support of the vaccine, just like his friend and fellow country music singer Dolly Parton. He and his wife received their first Moderna vaccine dose last January 13 in Cedar Park, Texas.

Nelson is already 87 and also experiences chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). According to Annie D’Angelo in an interview with Rolling Stone that her husband held off getting vaccinated. He wanted to make sure that he wasn’t cutting anybody.

After getting his shot, he posed with a thumbs-up which was shared by Family Hospital Systems with the caption thanking him for helping in slowing down the spread of the virus. In the post, they also encouraged everyone to continue getting their routine tests and also sign up for a vaccine.
