Ken Burns’s new documentary is named ‘Country Music,’ and it centers around an exploration of the genre and all its in and outs. This project has been in the works for the past eight years.

In a statement, Burns explained how country music translate to everyday experiences.
“In country music we found a love for storytelling that translates everyday experiences into universal truths that we can all identify with. We’re very excited to share this film with the country, in towns large and small, from one coast to the other. But we are most excited to share it in those areas that gave birth to this most American of art forms.”
According to a press release, the documentary is set to chronicle the story of country music, as well as its subsequent evolution towards the 20th century and beyond.
“[It] chronicles the highs and lows of country music’s early days, from southern Appalachia’s songs of struggle, heartbreak and faith to the rollicking Western swing of Texas, California’s honky-tonks and Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry,”

Alabama citizens can get a special preview of Ken Burns’ highly anticipated documentary ‘Country Music.’ It will have a special screening on Friday at the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery, according to AL.com.
The event will be presented by Alabama Public Television. And, it will offer excerpts from the documentary, mainly focusing on Alabama native Hank Williams and his numerous contributions to the genre.
No tickets are required for the preview. Friday’s event is a part of a traveling roadshow of screenings and discussions that is set to happen for more than 30 markets around the country up until the premiere of the documentary on the 15th of September, 2019.
Directed by Burns, ‘Country Music’ premieres Sunday, the 15th of September through the 18th of September, and Sunday the 22nd of September through the 25th of September at 8 PM ET on PBS stations. Episodes will be available for streaming as well.
