In 1975, Emmylou Harris released her third album Elite Hotel. It was a groundbreaking success for her career. Elite Hotel became her first album to reach number one on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart. In addition, it was her first album to be certified as silver in the UK. This became her defining moment. Now, how can she top this album of hers?
Not far apart from her 1975 album, Harris again made it to the top of the chart. It was a surprise as she released her album Luxury Liner the following year, it gained a huge success as Elite Hotel. It even secured a higher spot on the Billboard 200 than her previous album.
The Songs in the Album
In Harris’ album, she covered some songs such as “Pancho and Lefty” by Townes Van Zandt, “Making Believe” by Kitty Wells, and “(You Never Can Tell) C’est La Vie” by Chuck Berry. Harris collaborated with other artists to record two singles in her album. She recorded “Hello Stranger” with Nicolette Larson and “Night Flyer” with Delia Bell.”
