Known for being the artist who does not shy away from the traditional elements that shaped up Nashville’s country music many years ago, Jon Pardi’s “She Ain’t In It” reawakens the genre’s good ol’ days.

It was released as the fourth single from his sophomore album California Sunrise, and the song became Pardi’s eighth charted single, reaching No. 21 on the Billboard Country Airplay while No. 23 on Hot Country Songs chart.

Story Behind The Song

This is one of Jon Pardi songs that never fails to leave a lasting mark to its listener.

Written by Wynn Varble and Clint Daniels, “She Ain’t In It” finds the singer facing the troubles following a breakup. It tells the story of a man who’s now ready to move on after grieving for a month or so. He has finally decided it’s time to go out and party with his friends – but “as long as she ain’t in it.” He’ll make an effort to avoid his former lover in every way he can as it’s the only way he can escape from the heartache.

And with his distinct twang and yearning vocals, the Dixon native effectively gets his pain across. The added pedal steel accompaniment even transforms the song into a classic country piece.

Pardi admits that the first time he heard the song, he wanted to record it right away. “I listened to it multiple times and loved that it was reminiscent of an older era of country music,” he said. But the thing is, George Strait had the song on hold.

Fortunately, the veteran artist made it available, and Pardi knows he needs to snatch the tune up quickly. And we’re pretty glad he did!
