Oak Ridge Boys singer Joe Bonsall turned to social media to address fans as to why he has been absent from the iconic country group’s recent live shows.

“There has been some concern for me, and yes, I AM having some health issues,” he said. In the next few posts, the 74-year-old singer further shared more about the severity of the medical problems he experienced, which he said could have led to his death.

Bonsall revealed that he had been hospitalized for six days due to pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood clot becomes lodged in an artery in the lung and blocks the blood flow.

While Bonsall did not go into further details about his health challenges, he is letting Oak Ridge Boys’ fans know that he’s on the better side now – even thanking them for the love and prayers they’ve shown.

He’s Feeling Well Enough To Sing On Stage Again

During the weekend, fans were ecstatic to see Joe Bonsall back on his feet as he joined the rest of The Oak Ridge Boys on stage during the Freedom Fest in Springfield, Tennessee, where he sang a couple of songs.

Though the group is having a break from the road, they have four more shows in July and several more for the rest of the year. They will also be joining the 2023 Country Music Cruise at Fort Lauderdale, Florida – together with Randy Owen, Neal McCoy, Clay Walker, and so much more. Bonsall noted that the annual Country Music Cruise has always been one of his favorite events each year.

Bonsall has spent half a century touring with the Country Music Hall of Fame quartet. We’ll definitely continue praying for his full recovery and more live performances from him.
