When heavy snow fell in Montevallo, Alabama, back in December, a local elementary school had no other choice but to delay the school day by at least two hours. That meant the school would not be able to serve breakfast to its hungry pupils! Luckily, a kind bus driver came to the rescue!

Local Bus Driver Turned Hero

Since there was heavy snowfall, countless children and staff members were not able to make it in time one school morning. Hence, the principal decided to delay the school day for a couple of hours.

That meant no breakfast will be served that morning, and a lot of children will miss their meals. When bus driver Wayne Price heard that the kids would not be able to get any breakfast that day, he settled matters with his own hands.

The kind man certainly did not want his pupils on the bus to enter classes on an empty stomach, so he decided to make a small detour.

Since they had a couple of hours to spare anyway, Mr. Price detoured to the nearest McDonald’s to get each child a small treat. He parked the bus on the nearest McDonald’s and went inside to buy more than 50 breakfast biscuits for each child, paying for all the biscuits himself.

The kids couldn’t stop praising their favorite bus driver once class officially started. Word spread like quickfire around the school, and the parents eventually caught wind of the generosity of the bus driver. Parents and staff started to thank the man for how he took care of his wards.

Montevallo Elementary School had nothing but kind words for the man.

“Mr. Price, one of our bus drivers, truly demonstrates the spirit of Christmas! On Tuesday, when school was delayed due to icy roads and we weren’t able to serve breakfast, he purchased biscuits from McDonald’s for his entire bus of students! What a kind act that our students will forever remember!”

Transportation Coordinator Rick Vines says he also got a call about the bus driver because his act of kindness went viral.

“The parents were told that breakfast would not be served because of how late we were getting to school. My understanding is that he bought 30 to 40 biscuits so yeah I would say he probably bought it for every child that rode the bus.”

We hope to be like Mr. Price and to spread love and kindness everywhere!
