As Diplo dips his toes into the country music genre, he heads down to Stagecoach, one of the biggest music festivals in country music together with Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, and their viral hit ‘Old Town Road.’
Stagecoach Debut
Diplo already teased us about his intention to penetrate the genre. And, it was no surprise that he was in Stagecoach with an hour-long set. He skillfully weaved country tracks into his standard Diplo-patented dance-floor mixes.
It takes a true artist to branch out of their comfort zone, including familiar hits like “Cotton-Eyed Joe” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Boot-Scootin’ Boogie” into his usual set. He also incorporated crowd-pleasers such as Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” and Joan Hett’s “I Love Rock’n’Roll.”
But perhaps the highlight of his set was when he called out Lil Nas X and Cyrus to perform their hit ‘Old Town Road’ during his set at Stagecoach and the crowd went wild.

Diplo’s Remix
The DJ also debuted his remix on the hit at Stagecoach. And, he wasn’t the first one to touch the track. Several hard-hitting country stars have already either endorsed the track or have made covers of it too. Such artists include Keith Urban, Dan + Shay, and Jake Owen. Cyrus took it to the next level and gave his endorsement by remixing the track to include his vocals.
The Diplo remix is on brand with this one, yet it doesn’t take away the original flavor that we love ‘Old Town Road’ for.

Thomas Wesley
Diplo’s new album is called ‘Thomas Wesley.’ And, according to what he told Variety, he’s already talking with heavy country power hitters like Thomas Rhett, Zac Brown, and Sam Hunt. The DJ also made friends with country star Sturgill Simpson, and he hopes to create country music with the same energy that he has.
Now, he’s released his first country song called “So Long” with Cam. It incorporates Diplo’s signature computer wobbles into a traditional country song. The chill format of the song provides just enough wiggle room for the DJ to play with, while still maintaining the country twang vibe.
