Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were good friends. Their friendship started when Cline took Lynn into her care and taught her everything she can learn to develop her career. They formed a wonderful bond together until the death of Cline in 1963.

Loretta Lynn Medley

Since Cline has a special place in Lynn’s heart, she couldn’t resist honoring her friend. Here is a video of Lynn performing a medley of Cline’s hit songs. In the video, we hear her sing “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and “Crazy.”

I Remember Patsy Album

Lynn not only performs her friend’s songs to keep her memory alive but she also released a tribute album known as I Remember Patsy in 1977. The album featured nine songs all made popular by her dear friend. The last track on the album was Lynn talking about Cline and how she got to know her.

Patsy Cline’s Songs Performed by Loretta Lynn

“I Fall to Pieces”

“I Fall to Pieces” was the first song of Cline to reach number one. It was a single written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard. Cline wanted to record the song, but when she found out that she would be backed up by The Jordanaires and the song sounded more pop, she wanted to back out. Luckily, she didn’t. Now, it’s known to be one of her signature songs.

“Walkin’ After Midnight”

Another song that Cline almost didn’t record was “Walkin’ After Midnight.” When she heard the song, she had a negative comment about it. However, she was convinced to record the song as long as they let her record a single she was interested to do.

“Walkin’ After Midnight” reached number two on the country chart. Furthermore, it placed at number twelve on the pop chart. This was the first song she recorded to enter the chart.

“Crazy”

Willie Nelson was pushed to the spotlight when his song “Crazy” was recorded by Cline in 1961. Nelson’s song was offered to other artists first but, they have rejected it. When it was presented to Cline, she was not fond of the way it was sung. However, the producer rearranged the song’s melody for Cline.

“Crazy” followed the success of “I Fall to Pieces.” Her song placed at number two on both the Hot Country and Adult Contemporary charts of the Billboard.

Upcoming Movie

Lynn is truly one great friend to Cline. She always remembers to honor her and keeps her memory alive. Late this year, a movie about Cline and Lynn’s friendship is set to be released, starring Megan Hilty as Cline and Jessie Mueller as Lynn.
