About The Song

Nate Cyphert, Mike Busbee (known as Busbee), and William Wiik Larsen wrote the song, but Florida Georgia Line listened to the track at the end because they said it wasn’t the song that would hit you instantly. 

There were talks about having Justin Bieber wanting to record the song, said Busbee, and they had another artist record the song. But Florida Georgia Line was eventually into the music; they fell in love with it and realized its power after spending time with the track. The song had a spiritual, loving sense; it is a beautiful, powerful worship song, as Brian Kelley would describe the track.

“H.O.L.Y.” is one of Florida Georgia Line’s songs that touched people’s hearts because it resonates with many people. The song’s spiritual feeling and harmony quickly stuck to the people and is being played repeatedly.

“H.O.L.Y.” rose to the #1 spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot County Songs chart and stayed for 18 consecutive weeks. The track also debuted at #1 on the Canada Country Chart. In August 2016, the song sold over a million copies and 1.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. 

The Academy of Country Music awarded Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.” the Single Record of the Year Award in 2017.
