Country singer and One Tree Hill alum Jana Kramer is mourning the loss of her beloved grandfather, Jim Kauffman.

Kramer took to social media to share the heartbreaking news and asked fans to keep her family in their prayers – most especially her “beautiful grandma who said goodbye to her love of 72 years.”

“Heaven has a new angel. My grandpa, Jim Kauffman. Our hearts are broken,” she wrote in the caption, along with a series of photos and videos of special moments spent with her grandfather, whom she describes as the funniest man she has ever met. She went on with her post reminiscing the moments when their grandpa would make them laugh with his jokes and stories until they’d cry.

She continued sharing more sweet moments with her gramps, like how he has always been the king of euchre and how he taught her everything about the trick-taking card game, like how there’s no one as good as him when it comes to making stuffing recipes during Thanksgiving – and while he may be tough at times, he loved his wife since they were in fourth grade.

Trying To Get As Close To Heaven As She Could

On her Instagram Story, Jana Kramer shared that she received the sad news only twenty minutes after arriving in Los Angeles, California. She wrote in the caption how she’s been sitting atop a mountain for nearly an hour, just praying and listening to her grandfather’s favorite songs by Willie Nelson. She shared more emotional tributes and videos with her grandfather in the subsequent posts.

Kramer’s fans were quick to send their condolences and offered her comforting messages, for which she said she’s thankful. “No matter what age, loss is not easy,” she concluded.

We’re also praying for Kramer to stay strong during this difficult time. We hope she and her entire family heal in their grandpa’s absence.
