Family comes first, even when you are in the middle of a packed tour schedule.

Easton Corbin is walking through one of the toughest seasons of his life after announcing the passing of his stepfather earlier this week. The 43-year-old singer took to Instagram with a black backdrop and words no artist ever wants to write: “I am heartbroken to share that my stepdad passed away earlier this week. He was an important part of my life, and I need to take a few days to be with my family as we lay him to rest.”

Corbin, known for hits like “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It,” made it clear that the loss cut deep. In order to honor his family and say goodbye properly, he canceled two scheduled shows, on August 29 at the Crystal Grand Music Theatre in Wisconsin Dells and on August 30 at Fortress Obetz in Ohio. For a road warrior like Easton, who has been out there grinding with a tour calendar full through 2026, pulling the plug on concerts is never a light decision. However, some things are bigger than the stage.

Corbin admitted this stretch has been especially rough. “I know I have had to cancel several shows recently, and I want to be transparent that this has been an incredibly tough season personally and professionally. I do not take lightly the impact this has on my fans, my team, and the venues,” he wrote. He finished by thanking fans for their love, prayers, and support, promising, “I look forward to getting back on the road and seeing you soon.”

The Florida native did not share many details about his stepfather’s death, but longtime fans know the singer’s backstory is tied closely to family. Raised in Trenton, Florida, Corbin spent time on his grandparents’ farm after his parents divorced, a place that shaped his love for traditional country music. It is not hard to imagine how much of an influence his stepdad had on his journey, making this loss even more personal.

Fans flooded his comments section with support, reminding him that his career can wait, but family cannot. One wrote, “Take your time with your family and DO NOT worry about how it makes us, your fans, the venues, etc feel. Family is most important. We, your true fans, will still be here waiting to see you perform when you get back on the road, but for now spend time with your family. God bless all of you.” Another added, “Sending you quiet strength and warmth as you walk through this loss.”

This tragedy comes just weeks after Corbin had to cancel shows due to vocal rest. In July, doctors ordered him to step away from the mic for several weeks, forcing him to scrap dates through August 9. He admitted how much he hated disappointing fans, but protecting his voice was necessary to keep his career alive for the long haul. “Taking care of my voice is the best way I can make sure we keep doing this for the long run,” he said at the time.

Now, with grief stacked on top of vocal rest, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the hardest years in Corbin’s career. Still, if there is anything true country fans know about Easton, it is that he does not back down easy. He has weathered storms before, and with the support of family, friends, and fans, he will get back on the road stronger.

For now, though, the spotlight can wait. Easton Corbin is choosing to stand with his family, honoring the man who helped raise him, and that is about as country as it gets.
