In June 2022, Luke Combs released “The Kind of Love We Make” as the second single off his third studio album, Growin’ Up.

The steamy love song has now reached the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, keeping his breakthrough streak on country radio with thirteen straight No. 1 single releases. It also successfully crossed over to the pop charts, peaking at No. 13 on Billboard Hot 100.

The Story Behind The Song

“The Kind of Love We Make,” which Luke Combs described as a “pretty self-explanatory song,” finds him singing all the romantic intentions he has for the woman he loves. After all the hustle and bustle, he thought to himself they needed time to be alone and certainly deserved a passionate night. Then, he asked her, “So, whatcha say we cancel our plans? Tonight, I’m only gonna be your man.”

Just like most of Luke Combs songs, it definitely knows how to sweep you off your feet. The country crooner wrote the sultry tune in Montana with Jamie Davis, Dan Isbell, and Randy Isbell – wherein it ended up being one of those songs that wrote itself.

It is also accompanied by a music video that is as passionate as the song, which follows an elderly couple who are still head over heels in love with each other despite the years that have passed by. It also showcases flashbacks during the beginning days of the couple’s relationship as they struggle to make time for each other due to their demanding careers as a firefighter and a paramedic.

Meanwhile, shots of Combs performing inside a local fire department in Dickson, Tennessee, are intercut with the heartwarming storyline.
