Waylon Jennings swoons us with this subtly romantic country song he released in 1985. Jennings is much more known for his outlaw country style in country music, but when a bad boy turns romantic, then it’s something to listen to.

“Waltz Me to Heaven” from His Compilation Album Waylon’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 2

“Waltz Me to Heaven” is a classic country song written by the amazing Dolly Parton. She wrote the song specifically for Jennings. It became a part of his compilation album, Waylon’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 2. Jennings made the song reach the top 10 of the country when it was released as a single, and it remained on the chart for a total of nineteen weeks. Aside from this classic single, Jennings also included his other known songs such as “Theme from the Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ol’ Boys)” and “Don’t You Think This Outlaw Bit’s Done Got Out of Hand.” Some songs in his album were previously recorded but newly released, such as his “Waltz Me to Heaven.”

The album scored a spot on the top 30 of the Billboard Country Albums chart.

The Story of the Song

“Waltz Me to Heaven” is a song that tells the story of a man who is deeply in love with someone. He used waltz as a metaphor for expressing his love. In the song, it is evident that the narrator has never felt such feeling as before, but being with her makes a difference. They might be in a party gayly dancing their hearts out to every beat of the music and falling in love so deeply.

So waltz me to heaven tonight
To the waltz of the angels we’ll blissfully blind
On past the Milkyway to paradise
Won’t you waltz me to heaven tonight

The feeling of being in love with someone is surreal. It’s a wonderful feeling to be inside that bubble together, thinking like there’s no tomorrow.

Jennings singing such a romantic song is everything, and you won’t want to miss it.
