The Greatest Showman – Reimagined

Following the footsteps of the hit musical Hamilton (with the Hamilton Mixtapes and HamilDrops), the smash box musical “The Greatest Showman” also released their very own remastered version. This is where they gather different artists and allowed them to put their very own spin to the song that they are offered. In this case, “From Now On” is a Hugh Jackman original. And the artist? It is none other than the Zac Brown Band.

The original track has a more somber feel, with it being sung during Barnum, the main character’s redemption scene. You don’t really feel much of the redemption in Barnum’s version. Rather, you could still feel the hurt in his character and promise. Yet, you don’t really believe that because you’d think that he doesn’t believe that himself. With the Zac Brown Band’s version, there is an immediate lightness to the vibe of the song. The singer puts as much conviction as he can in the song. “From Now On” solidifies as a promise, not under the shadows of doubt that Barnum’s version previously had. This time, you’ll believe that the character will indeed go home.

The Original Greatest Show

The Greatest Showman is a 2017 American musical film that stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Willams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya. The film is inspired by the story of P.T Barnum’s creation of Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its star attractions.

The soundtrack is absolutely brilliant and it is filled with amazing songs. That includes this powerful ballad.

The power of persuasion is nestled in between the vocals of the choir that backs up Barnum in his song, but not from Barnum himself. It is as if they are further encouraging him to come home, and not to be ashamed that he went astray because he was blinded by fame and a chance of more money. Nonetheless, we’re glad he’s home and better than ever.
