The vocalist of Zac Brown’s namesake band took a short break from his singing career to lend his beautiful and distinct voice to a whole new kind of undertaking.
Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta United FC and Falcons soccer club has been good friends with Zac Brown for years. Their friendship began when the two met at Brown’s week-long educational and motivating camps for kids aged 7 to 17-years-old, where Blank had always been a strong supporter of Brown’s program.
Last September 2, Brown served as the narrator for the sports documentary titled On a Mission: Atlanta Rising that features Blank. The feature film spans an hour depicting the journey of Blank from his birth up to the time he founded his retail company, The Home Depot, his current life and routine as the brand new owner of the Atlanta Falcons, as well as the connection between Blank’s philanthropic efforts and the building of the new Mercedes-Benz stadium in the hopes of revamping downtown Atlanta.
Going into a bit more detail, Brown disclosed how he dealt with the death of his father when he was only 15. Sports-wise, Arthur dished the strengthening bond he has with the former Falcons quarterback, Michael Vick, the recent Super Bowl defeat last February, and of course, his latest sports franchise.
The businessman and also co-founder of The Home Depot is a well-known philanthropist who bought the Atlanta Falcons franchise in the NFL from its former owner, Taylor Smith. His next purchase was the Arena Football League franchise, Georgia Force, in September 2004. Blank’s works had been honored numerous times. He was awarded the American Institute for Stuttering’s Freeing Voices, Changing Lives award in 2011, was hailed by Ernst & Young LLP as National Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005, named Georgia’s Most Respected CEO for the second time in three years by Georgia Trend magazine, and inducted into 2006’s Business Hall of Fame.
When asked about his sports documentary project, Zac Brown replied,
“It was such an honor when I asked to be part of this project. Arthur is a great man doing so many great things. He has a huge heart and strives to help communities and people grow to reach their full potential.”
