Woman finds Saving Grace in ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’ after Being Lost in Wilderness

It’s amazing how a song can touch our lives one way or another but it’s miraculous how much a song in our memory gives us the hope and strength even if everything seems to crumble and hopelessness is all over the place. This Carrie Underwood song “Jesus Take The Wheel’ proved to be one of those songs.

Johnson, Jesus Take the Wheel

Kaylean Johnson, a 20-year old resident of Washington did not know that a single motorcycle accident would change her perspective in life forever.

In a very unfortunate event, Johnson crashed into a ditch while riding on a motorcycle with a friend, Patrick Fawley. While spending the night at Washington’s Little Naches Forest, Johnson decided to take it upon herself to find any Good Samaritan that could help them after being lost.

Even if you are not into movies, we all know what would happen next if two people decided to split and find help in a forest where both of you are not that familiar with. Unbeknownst to Johnson, she would not be getting any help until after she spends eight days and nights alone in the forest, east of Chinook Pass surviving with no food or shelter.

The Good Samaritan luckily came after eight days, a volunteer who was marking trails for the Pacific Crest Trail Association heard Johnson’s cry for a savior. Together with a colleague, the volunteers retrieved Johnson from the misery of the ditch.

Johnson told KOMO news how she held tight to her faith and that one song that kept her alive after being trapped in the forest:

“The song, I sing it in my heart all the time, it’s ‘Jesus Take the Wheel,’ by Carrie Underwood, I sang that song the night I went missing and when I got home, it came on the radio.”

Johnson’s friend, Frawley also got out of the forest earlier and was treated in a nearby hospital. It was reported that Frawley did not get any life-threatening injuries.

Indeed, faith comes in different forms and sometimes, they come in songs that become someone else’s salvation.
