Country Stars Who Won Trophies at the 61st Grammy Awards

February 11, 2019

The 61st Grammy Awards has just concluded. Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, and Brandi Carlile are some of the country music artists who emerged as big winners at the prestigious event.

While he is known for his outlaw country music, Nelson’s 68th studio album My Way was nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album award. The tribute album to Frank Sinatra won the title, making it Nelson’s 13th career Grammy win.

This year is definitely the American singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile’s year. She became the most nominated female artist for Grammys 2019. She received a total of six nominations, including Album of the Year. It was in 2015 when Carlile was first nominated for the same award but didn’t win. This time, her album, By the Way, I Forgive You, won the title beating out other artists like Post Malone, Cardi B, H.E.R., Drake, Jannelle Monáe, Kacey Musgrave, and Various Artists.

Another lucky Grammy winner this year was Kacey Musgraves. The 30-year-old country music star got four Grammy nominations namely, Album of the Year, Best Country Solo Performance, Best County Song, and Best Country Album. As of this writing, Musgraves won all three categories for country music. Although the winner for the Album of the Year award still pending, Musgraves is certainly one of this year’s Grammy Awards biggest winners.
