HOWDY, Y’ALL!
STILL HAVEN’T GOTTEN any “more current” news about Our Dear Red Headed Stranger but I’ve decided to (in my own way of-) payin’ some Tribute to our friend ’til I do hear of his recovery… Hopefully, REAL SOON!
“…if I make a mistake then it’s like the old joke… Make one mistake people notice, make three and it becomes a hot lick…”
WILLIE HAS BEEN FIGHTING all his life… Even to the point of reinventing himself. From the clean-cut-suit-and-tie Country Crooner to being the badass Country Outlaw—one of the Founding Fathers of the Movement, in fact. To his advocacies, to his woes and sensitivity, to just bein’ who he is… WILLIE NELSON.
Willie and his Advocacies…
“MARIJUANA OR HEMP CAN BE used in so many good ways… Our first Levi’s was first made out from hemp. The first paper that The Declaration of Independence was written on was made from hemp. There was a time when hemp was a very important commodity in this Country. But, because of Petro-chemicals (everything that’s made from), plastics now used to be made from hemp.”
Willie and his Soft Spot…
WHEN WILLIE FELT THAT the American Government was not doing enough for the plight of the American Farmer, he took the matter into his own hands. So in September of 1985, Willie kicked-off the 1st FARM AID: The Concert for America in Champagne, Illinois.
Willie had gone through some really rough times especially in the 1990’s when he was being billed by the IRS for 32 million dollars in back taxes. But that was the least of his woes…
ON CHRISTMAS DAY, 1991 Willie Nelson got a phone call… His eldest son Billie had died a tragic death at the age of 33. “Well, you know.., how do you not deal with that, y’ know? It’s somethin’ you deal with— immediately. You are not supposed to outlive your kids. So that’s uhh… The hardest… hardest one… The hardest tuh, y’know… The roughest spot.”
But Willie always had that honest-to-goodness Fun Side…
WILLIE NELSON WILL—and always—remain to BE WILLIE.
I SO HOPE that y’all enjoyed my li’l bit and I truly hope that YOU GET WELL VERY SOON WILLIE…
And, as ALWAYS,
“MAY THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY BLESS US ALL AND SET US FREE!”
