Watch Out! Country Music Legend Dwight Yoakam to Perform in Lubbock 1

Topping the charts with songs like ‘Guitars, Cadillacs‘, ‘Honky Tonk Man‘, ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love‘, and ‘Little Ways‘ to name a few, country music legend Dwight Yoakam will perform live at the Lubbock Municipal Auditorium in Texas on Friday, March 23rd.

Dwight Yoakam has won many awards for his credit. In addition, he has been at the top of the charts multiple times with critically-acclaimed albums and singles. Some of his accolades include selling over 25 million albums and winning multiple Grammy Awards. Also, he has received 12 gold albums and 14 top 10 singles. He then earned Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards in 2013.

Not making much headway in Nashville, Yoakam moved to Los Angeles. There, he worked towards bringing his particular brand of new Honky Tonk or “Hillbilly” music forward into the 1980s.

Writing all his own songs, and continuing to perform mostly outside traditional country music channels, he did many shows in rock and punk rock clubs around Los Angeles.

He played with roots rock or punk rock acts like The BlastersLos Lobos, and X. This helped him diversify his audience beyond the typical country music fans. His authentic, groundbreaking music is often credited with rock audiences accepting country music.

Johnny Cash once cited Yoakam as his favorite country singer. Chris Isaak called him “good a songwriter as ever put a pen to paper“. Time dubbed him “A Renaissance Man” and Vanity Fair declared that Yoakam strides the divide between rock’s lust and country’s lament. Along with his bluegrass and honky-tonk roots, he has written or covered many Elvis Presley-style rockabilly songs, including his covers of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” in 1999 and Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” in 1992.

Not Just a Country Music Legend

Not only a singer-songwriter, Yoakam is also an actor and director has starred on various films such as Red Rocks West (1993), Sling Blade (1996), The Minus Man, Panic Room (2002), and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005). His writing, acting and directing have put him on the silver screen numerous times.

In addition, Yoakam has also ventured into the food business. He has his own food brand called Bakersfield Biscuits, which sells frozen foods at retailers such as Wal-Mart Superstores, Walgreens, Sam’s Club, and Kroger.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab this chance and don’t miss to meet the country legend Dwight Yoakam in Lubbock, Texas on Friday, March 23rd.
