Whenever we think about praying to God, at the back of our minds, we are hoping for it and expecting it to be answered in a way that appeals best to us. After all, it is very human to want things to go our way, and whether we readily admit it or not, we want our prayers answered.
Though, as Christians, we need to remember that we are already experiencing the best deal. Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus and what that meant for us. We have been given the best deal we could ever ask for because of Jesus, He made it possible so that we can once again be with God in heaven, and the best part is Jesus already paid the price so we wouldn’t have to.
When it comes to prayers though, the reality is that we don’t always get what we want. Our prayers seemingly feel as though they have been ignored. However, we need to understand that our prayers were not ignored but that God has better plans. After all, He is omniscient and we often tend to forget that fact.
“Unanswered Prayers” When God Does It, It’s Because We Deserve Better
Garth Brooks’ song is more than just about a man thanking the Lord for the gifts God bestowed on him, it is also a song that makes us think about our prayers, how we deal with the answered ones, and how we react to “Unanswered Prayers.”
Often times, we react negatively to “Unanswered Prayers” thinking that we should have our way because we deserve it or other delusional excuses we make up to justify our selfishness. This song is a great reminder for us though with lyrics like:
“Just because He doesn’t answer doesn’t mean He don’t care . . .”
“I guess the Lord knows what He’s doin’ after all”
All of that is true, God knows better and has better plans for us because He loves us very dearly. So, if we are ever feeling down because our prayers seem unanswered, take a listen to this song and be reminded of the wonder of our God, and of course, thank the great Garth Brooks for this awesome song.
