5 Country Singers and Their Amazing TV Stints: Yay or Nay?

Sometimes, country stars aren’t always on-stage, singing and performing their hit songs for their fans. This is especially true if they are truly multi-talented individuals and they’ve got a lot more to bring to the table. That being said, there have been instances in the past where our favorite country singers took a break from recording new songs and singing live on tours to exhibit their acting abilities and lend their theatrics to television shows.

From comedy to drama to action, the five artists on today’s list will prove to fans just how versatile their beloved singers can be.

Hart of Dixie, Laura Bell Bundy

Hart of Dixie tells the story of a new doctor and New Yorker, Zoe Hart, who takes an offer to work in a medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama, from a guy she just met. The guy, whose name is Dr. Harley Wilkes, turns out to have died and declared in his will that he left half of his practice to Zoe. In this top-rated TV drama, Laura Bell Bundy plays the role of Shelby, a recurring character, alongside top-notch actors like Jaime King and Rachel Bilson.

Law and Order: SVU, Miranda Lambert

The reigning queen of today’s country music, Miranda Lambert, starred as a shy, introverted artist on one of the episodes of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit in 2012. Taking a break from her usual tough, rebellious, and kick-ass persona, fans get to see a softer and more sentimental side to their country rock idol.

JAG, Trisha Yearwood

Trisha Yearwood, the wife of the highly acclaimed artist, Garth Brooks, has been dominating on tours, cooking shows, and even on her Facebook videos. This time, she shares her onscreen talent by performing as a forensic scientist and Navy coroner in a show called JAG. JAG is about former Navy fighter pilot, Harmon Rabb and his fellow lawyers at the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Office and the cases they handled.

Reba, Reba McEntire

Nothing beats having your own television show that bears your name up in lights. With Reba McEntire, she surely delighted her fans after the pilot episode of her TV sitcom, Reba aired and showed a refreshingly funny side to the famous country singer. The show ran for 6 seasons, and she even worked as the show’s executive producer during the latter parts. Aside from Reba, McEntire lent her acting talent on Malibu Country, and she has an upcoming new TV drama where she plays a small-town sheriff.

Hannah Montana, Billy Ray Cyrus

Miley Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, also had his own share of TV appearances, one of which includes a stint on the then-hit teen series, Hannah Montana. He played the role of dad on her biological daughter’s show and even treated the audience to some performances on some of the show’s episodes.

It’s exciting to witness our favorite country singers give their very best artistic forms of expression aside from singing or songwriting. It shows that they are capable of many great things and that’s what draws us fans closer to them
