Thompson Square narrates a love story that started with a kiss in their song “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not.” The track earned the duo their first-ever top hit. It’s the second single from their self-titled debut album released in 2010. RIAA awarded the song with double Platinum certification, selling more than 2 million copies.
The men who crafted the song are equally incredible. They are David Lee Murphy, a well-established country singer best known for top hits “Dust in the Bottle” and “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” and Jim Collins, who also wrote Jason Aldean’s smash hit “Big Green Tractor.” The storyline starts with the male narrator and his love interest sitting and talking. Later on, he was caught off-guard when the lady asks him, “Are you gonna kiss me or not?” And that kiss started a relationship that finally concludes with a wedding. That’s just the power of a kiss! Now, how many of you can relate?
Husband-and-wife duo Keifer and Shawna Thompson met each other at a singing competition as solo artists before they got married. Their music combines classic rock, country, and country-pop mix.
Shawna was raised in Chatom, Alaska, where she learned country songs from her guitar-playing father. She was mostly exposed with country stars like Alabama and Reba McEntire. On the other hand, Keifer grew up in Miami, Oklahoma, where he listened to acts like Roger Miller and Merle Haggard. His songwriting talent was inspired by the music of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty.
