“The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is a film based on the Broadway musical of the same name. It stars country legend Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds and follows the story of the Chicken Ranch’s struggle to stay open. The film is a musical comedy and has made a decent profit at the box office opening with a warm reception from the audience and critics.
The film offers a lot of great music with the most popular probably being Dolly’s performance of “I Will Always Love You” however that doesn’t mean the others are without their merits.
“The Sidestep” One of The Best and Most Relevant Song Even Today
One of the songs that perhaps stays true until today is “The Sidestep” the song that the governor performed when being questioned about the Chicken Ranch issue. The lyrics of the song is basically the governor sidestepping the issue.
Though the song is catchy and the performance of Charles Durning is great, you can really tell that he is having fun during this scene. It is sad though that the song’s message is a true testament to how politicians deal with issues today.
One of the best examples of these kinds of politicians is Boris Johnson, the current prime minister of the UK, he is so good at saying a lot and nothing at the same time. He knows how to manipulate and distract people so that they would forget about the issue, basically, he does “The Sidestep” a little too well.
There are plenty of politicians like that here in the US too, we can’t allow ourselves to be taken by “The Sidestep.” With the 2020 elections coming, it is important that we see how our would-be leaders dealing with problems and issues in our country. We can’t be distracted and we shouldn’t let them sidestep. This upcoming election, let’s do our duties as Americans and properly choose the right leaders with the right solutions.
