Texas Tornados Perform “Before The Next Teardrop Falls”

If he brings you happiness
Then I wish you all the best
It’s your happiness that matters most of all
But if he ever breaks your heart
If the teardrops ever start
I’ll be there before the next teardrop falls

Si te quiere de verdad
Y te da felicidad
Te deseo lo más bueno pa’ los dos
Pero si te hace llorar
A mé me puedes hablar
Y estaré contigo cuando triste estás

Song Story

Another song about unrequited love, “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” is about a man’s undaunted determination to save his heart for the just-departed object of his deep love. Hoping that the woman’s new relationship does not work out, he still clings to it and believes that she will remember his love and love him in return.

It is indeed difficult to love someone with that person not paying that love back. This song just gives all the feels and hope despite the new situation happening between both lovers. In addition, this song narrates that the man is ready to be beside the woman if ever her new partner makes her cry and leaves her.

This song showcases Fender’s tenor and Meaux’s Tex-Mex musical styling. “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” jump-started his career. In the months and years that followed, Fender recorded several bilingual standards which became major hits, most notably “Secret Love“.
