The Nashville Individualist
Mitchell Tenpenny is that one of a kind artist who is comfortable operating in the spaces between contradictory themes. Tenpenny is known to be a creative thinker with a keen business sense. Tenpenny is a competitive individual but he also champions the music of his colleagues in the industry. He is a phenomenal songwriter, which includes a Top 5 hit for Granger Smith, “If the Boot Fits”.
He cites artists like Michael Jackson and the Oak Ridge Boys as his inspirations. The multiplicity of his musical tastes have refined his sound in a way most are familiar with. Yet, Tenpenny is still able to give it his own flair. His soulful vocal delivery was developed after years of singing harmonies in church. And, the grunge and rugged persona that he brings to the table was brought about by his experience as the “lead screamer” in angsty high school hard rock bands. This is highlighted by his hit single “Drunk Me”, which peaked at number 11 in the US Hot Country Songs.
Listen to his hit song “Drunk Me” here!
Here’s something more to get excited about! Watch out for Tenpenny’s videos of his new songs “Telling All My Secrets” and “Alcohol You Later.”
Tenpenny collaborated with Vevo DSCVR to deliver such powerful and raw live performances of two of his hit songs, “Alcohol You Later” and “Telling All My Secrets”. His flair and passion for his craft are clearly poured into each of the songs. “Telling All My Secrets” has that nostalgic feel to it and you can clearly feel the emotion when you see Tenpenny sing it. “Alcohol You later” has that Southern Rock vibe going on that would be sure to make you jam to it.
The videos will drop on October 15, so stay tuned here at Country Thang Daily!
