Chris Stapleton Has Outdone Himself in 11-minute version of Tennessee Whiskey

Chris Stapleton recently wowed the audience of his rendition of Tennessee Whiskey and we are not pertaining about his CMA performance with Justin Timberlake but his recent Whiskey stint on his own concert where not only his vocal prowess was highlighted but also his amazing guitar skills.

Tennessee Whiskey, Various Versions

The 1981 version of the song was sung by David Allan Coe but did not really fair well on country charts as the 1981 version only peaked until number 77. Flash forward to 1983 when George Jones took an interest in adding his own vocal flavor to the song and include his own version on his album entitled ‘Shine On.’ It was eventually a hit to George Jones and the song reached its highest number 2 spot.

Probably the most modern version belongs to Chris Stapleton as his iconic performance with Justin Timberlake was heavily praised. His version even earned a platinum status due to Stapleton’s new breathing of the Whiskey song. He ultimately gave the song its highest yet as it peaked number on US Hot Country Songs.

Watch his show-stopping performance here:

Tennessee Whiskey Lyrics

Used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love I’ve known
But you rescued me from reachin’ for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

I’ve looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn’t waste it
‘Cause there’s nothing like your love to get me high

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey
