Taylor Swift is considered the most successful artist both in the pop and country music industry. She is so influential that little things she does in her life affect her supporters. We all know that she has earned fans, followers, and bashers. Nevertheless, Swift is still an epitome of a people mover. This is only because of her impact, from her choice of music, her good deeds, and the controversies surrounding her.

Furthermore, Taylor Swift is making rounds these days, from radio, television, and to the social media. Is the pop star coming back home to where she began? Is she switching back to the country? These are the questions and hot topics about Taylor Swift that tickles our minds. Whatever her decision is, I’m pretty sure it’s for the good of her supporters.

This article would discuss her roots, humble beginnings, her success in both pop and country music. It will give you more of her detailed humble beginnings, country albums to pop albums, the decision to come back, the reason of coming back, indications that she is coming back, and lastly if she will stick to Country if she comes back? But, will country music obsessives welcome her back wholeheartedly?

The Decision To Switch To Pop

In August 2014, Swift finally decided to stick to one genre which is pop. She was very clear that at that time, her decision is final and she will be leaving Country. She then released her very first plain pop album entitled “1989”.

Her president record label suggested her to collate at least three country songs on that particular album. She refused. Since then, she stayed away from country music mediums and award giving platforms.

As she performs her pop music all over the world, many were disappointed, and many were astonished. This only implies that whatever genre Swift choose to stay, she’s still being embraced.

Now, she just released her new pop album entitled “Reputation.”

Indications that Taylor Swift is Coming Back To Country

At the 2016 Country Music Association Awards, she presented the most coveted award which is “Entertainer of the Year” which was won by Garth Brooks. She stayed away from Country, but this surprised all the country music obsessives. The crowd went crazy upon seeing Taylor Swift on the stage. Swift was cheerful arriving on the scene with enthusiasm greeting the audience.

Another, Swift wrote a song for the country group “Little Big Town.” Yes, she is the mysterious writer of “Better Man,” the group’s single. Additionally, Swift was the one who approached the group to write a song for them. Swift is a fan of the harmonies of “Little Big Town.”

Taylor returned to her roots giving a song that was intended for her “Red” album last 2012 to the country band “Sugarland.” When she heard that they were getting back together, she decided to give the song she co-wrote with Train lead singer Pat Monahan to them. The song was released last April 20, 2018. The song also featured Taylor Swift.

Since the release of the song, many fans rushed to post their excitement and happiness about the song an Taylor Swift on Twitter. Many people reminisced the past as they listen to Sugarland’s “Babe.” Fans also said that Taylor writing country songs just bring back the old times when they were young and Taylor was an amazing country singer. “Babe” is currently at the no. 48 position on us billboard hot country songs.

Why Is Taylor Coming Back?

When it comes to the decisions of Swift towards her career, she thinks twice, thrice, even a million times and carefully weigh things. But, Swift was so assertive when she decided to leave the country music. So the question is, why is she returning?

The apparent presumption is that Swift is looking for a niche after a lousy reputation scandal after scandal.

Relationship With Tom Hiddleston

First, she was a subject of ridicule due to her relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston. She was photographed kissing him after a breakup with DJ Calvin Harris. It was said that their relationship was just an act.

Harris then exposed some of Swift’s PR tactics. With this, Swift confirmed that she was the songwriter of her song “This Is What You Came For.” The song made Harris look bad to the public.

Taylor Swift And Kanye West’s Rift

Do you remember the infamous phone call between Kanye West and Taylor Swift? I bet you do. Kim Kardashian posted the phone call on snap chat. There were controversies about the song “Famous.” Due to the phone call, it was proven that Swift wasn’t honest over the controversy. The scandal made rounds over social media, making Taylor Swift a “snake in the grass.”

Due to all of the scandals and controversies, Swift needs to reset for a while. She, indeed, needs to restore her image. And the best platform is country music wherein she never made a bad reputation.

I believe many will be more upset when she returns to Country but many will also welcome her with open arms. Why not, she can sell, and she helps ratings specifically that of Country award-giving bodies.

The mysterious thing about it was when she accepted her Milestone Award at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2015. Upon acceptance, she delivered her speech, and it sounded a break-up and goodbye message.

“Somebody once told me that you truly see who a person is when you tell them something they don’t want to hear…And so to the country music community, when I told you that I had made a pop album and that I wanted to go explore other genres, you showed me who you are with the grace you accepted that with,” Swift said. “I will never forget it.”

When She Decides to Return, Will She Stick to Country this Time?

The answer is dependent on her final decision and the people. If people will welcome her back and appreciate her more than ever, then it would be an assurance that she will remain. If she maintains a good relationship with her country music fans, perhaps she’ll grow and make her country music steady.

Taylor Swift’s Early Childhood

Taylor Alison Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989. She began performing in her teenage years. She sings at local shows and joins some competitions. Also, she started to write songs and play the guitar at a very young age.

Taylor learned to play the guitar at the age of 12. It was reported that a computer repairman named Ronnie Cremer first taught her.

The singer spent the early years of her life on a Christmas tree farm. She attended preschool and kindergarten at Alvernia Montessori School before transferring to The Wyndcroft School. The family then moved to a rented house in the suburban town of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, where she attended Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School.

At the age of nine, Swift became interested in musical theater and performed in four Berks Youth Theatre Academy productions. She also traveled regularly to New York City for vocal and acting lessons.

Taylor Swift’s Influences

Swift learned how to sing by watching her Grandmother Marjorie Finlay singing at a church. Her mother would always help her prepare for presentations. Swift owes her confidence to her mother.

Moreover, Swift was drawn and introduced to country music by the greatest female country artists of the 90’s. They are Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Dixie Chicks. Swift considers Twain as her biggest musical influence while Hill was her child role model. She adores Dixie Chicks due to their attitude and the ability to play their musical instruments. Actually, “Cowboy Take Me Away” was a song of Dixie Chicks that Swift first learned to play on the guitar.

Furthermore, Swift was also influenced by older country stars such as Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, and Loretta Lynn. She strongly believes that Parton is an epitome of a great songwriter. Swift also was thankful to Ryan Adams, Patty Griffin, and Lori McKenna for they have inspired her country music career.

Swift listed other country artists as her influences including The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, and Carly Simon as her career role models. She believed all of them impacted her career, believing in the power of their songwriting, strength to enter the heart and soul of the people, and being humble in spite of their success.

Taylor Swift’s Musical Style

Swift’s music contains pop, pop rock, and of course country. She describes herself as a plain country. All of her music such as “Teardrops on my Guitar,” “Love Story,” “Our Song,” and many more are all in the country genre. These made the people specifically the younger generation love and appreciate her.

Swift performs on stage with her guitar, banjo, and her boots but there is something about her singing that is unique to Nashville. As for her voice, it matches the country style due to her smooth, sweet, and soft-toned of voice. The uniqueness of her voice captured the country enthusiasts. She tried to lower her voice for the payoff lines in the classic mode of a shy girl trying to talk tough.

Plainly, this is perhaps her style. Also, she sometimes sounded thin and strained which makes the listeners crazy about her. And what we like about Swift is that she refuses to correct her voice and pitch with auto-tune. And believe it or not, Swift has been said that she still is taking vocals to mold and improve her voice.

Taylor Swift’s Songwriting Style

Swift uses her life experiences to tell a story and patch it with a slowly chosen melody. Most of her themes are secret crushes in and out the music industry. Also, she often criticizes her ex-boyfriends. But, her style is not directly confessional but dramatic. Swift songs are not all factual but sometimes based on her observations.

One reason why the youngsters love Swift so much is because of the words and lyrics of her songs. It merely describes and portrays the life of being a teenager that most of them can relate to.

Swift is being criticized for the way she writes her songs. Probably, the reason that she is influencing the youth mostly.

But for Taylor:

“For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated—a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way, that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist”.

The Rise to Stardom

Swift was very young when she penetrated the world of Country Music. She released her debut single back in 2006, and it was an immediate smash. Indeed, Swift can be measured as one of the youngest artists to skyrocket in the country music industry.

When Taylor was 14, she was discovered by Scott Borchetta while performing in the Bluebird Café. She signed a label with Big Machine Records. Thus, the start of the blessed career of the famous Taylor Swift. Undoubtedly, she was loved by millions of youngster then and now.

Her 2006 self-titled debut album became No.5 on the Billboard 200. It spent the most weeks on the chart in the 2000s. Moreover, her album’s third single, “Our Song,” made her the youngest artist to write and perform a No.1 song on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Swift’s second album “Fearless” was released in 2008. Buoyed by the success of pop crossover singles “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me.” Swift’s album “Fearless” became the best-selling album of 2009 in the United States. The album won four Grammy Awards. With this, Swift became the youngest “Album of the Year” awardee.

Taylor Swift’s Pop Albums

Her fifth and very first pure pop album “1989” was released in 2014. It was a massive step for Taylor, but she didn’t disappoint her fans as people still rushed to buy her album. Taylor’s album 1989 remained on the top 10 of the Billboard 200 charts for 52 weeks since its release. In an interview, she said that her album 1989 was her “most sonically cohesive” album ever. Her record label asked her to add three country songs to her album, but she refused to, as she was committed to shifting her style from country to pop music. Her singles “Blank Space,” “Shake it Off,” and “Bad Blood” all peaked at the top of the Billboard charts.

Taylor took a hiatus after various issues about her rise. She remained hidden from the spotlight for a while to avoid paparazzi.  After taking her break, she released her sixth studio album and second purely pop album last November 2017, “Reputation”. All songs were written or co-written by Taylor. Her song “Look What You Made Me Do” is the most viewed music video in a 24 hour period. It also surprisingly jump from No. 77 to No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her recent album is an attempt to show the side of Taylor that is cooler and edgier. She also mentioned about the issue that she always likes to play the victim.
