Brett Young and Taylor Mills are officially starting their journey as husband and wife at the same time embracing parenthood really well.
But did you know that the couple has to take a long and winding road before getting the happy ending they deserve? And it took them a decade to do that.
Ten Years In The Making
Brett Young and Taylor Mills first met through a mutual friend when Taylor was a college student at Arizona State University. “It was early Facebook years, and I saw a picture on her roommate’s page with her in it,” Young recalled. “I finally was able to finagle a group hang, and it was pretty platonic.”
Brett soon moved to Orange County, California, and much to his surprise, he got a text from his future wife four months later. The pair then started a long-distance relationship.
After graduating, Taylor Mills took the big move to Los Angeles to be closer to Brett Young. Unfortunately, after dating for six years, the pair called it quits. Brett Young needed to move to Nashville to chase his dream of being a country singer.
It turned out, the couple just needed a two-year break to be together forever. Brett Young and Taylor Mills caught up and realized that they were meant to be together. When they reconciled, Brett realized that “all the good stuff was still there, but all the bad stuff that was born out of immaturity was gone.”
Shortly after, Brett Young proposed in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Graduate hotel near Ole Miss, where he went to college. Champagne and flowers were all set-up on a large patio.
Taylor Mills’ engagement ring, a gorgeous oval-cut diamond ring, is also pretty special. Brett Young got down in one knee with a custom ring he designed with David M. Kodner of David Kodner Personal Jewelers. Brett wanted it to be as personal as possible. So Kodner suggested to feature the couple’s initials on the diamond sparkler, to which Brett agreed.
After talking through the design with Brett, Kodner worked on a digital mock-up to make sure the singer will love it before creating the actual ring.
The Long-Awaited Union
Finally, on November 3, 2018, the country star tied the knot with his longtime love in front of more than 200 of their closest friends and family at the Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California.
Brett had already been speculating before the big day that he was going to cry. And he was right all along. The music crooner eventually shed plenty of tears when he first saw Taylor Mills walking down the aisle and especially when they exchanged vows that they had written for each other.
Taylor Mills looked so stunning in her custom wedding gown created by Justin Alexander Signature, featuring long sleeves and a low back while Brett looked dapper in a custom tux by J. Hilburn.
The newlyweds shared their first dance to a special rendition of “Forever Young” produced by Brett’s longtime producer Dann Huff. The guests also celebrated their union by partying at a carefree reception.
‘And Then We Were Three’
As soon as Brett Young and Taylor Mills tied the knot, they straightaway looked forward to taking another step in their relationship. They admit they were both looking forward to expanding their family, and they are very excited to go through the changes of being parents might bring.
Finally, on October 21, 2019, the couple became first-time parents as they welcomed their first daughter together, Presley Elizabeth Young, into the world. She was born healthy and well in Tennessee, weighing eight lbs., 2 oz.
Brett also opened up about the labor and delivery on Instagram, hailing his wife a “superhero.”
