The last time Tanya Tucker released a song, it was back in 2009 and she introduced her album My Turn. My Turn consisted 12 cover versions of staple country songs that were originally recorded by male artists. This time, her newest single, Forever Loving You tackles feelings of loss and keeping someone she’s lost so close to her heart.
On August 8, 2017, country music bid a sudden and heartbreaking farewell to another of its most talented and iconic artists, Glen Campbell. After battling Alzheimer’s for over five years, Campbell’s body surrendered and he breathed his last breath. Days after the news of Campbell’s death broke, Tanya Tucker took to her Official Facebook Page to express her overwhelming grief over the loss of a dear friend.
“I’m just devastated. Absolutely devastated. It’s been so hard these past several years knowing what he’s been going through. My heart just breaks. Glen and I shared some incredible, precious memories together for a long time. There were some ups and downs, and, of course, all the downs were played out in the press. We both got past all that. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. It’s why I’m releasing “Forever Loving You” in memory of Glen and for all those who are losing or have lost someone they love. I’ll forever love you, Glen.”
She then continues her emotional outburst by sharing the charitable mission attached to her latest single release,
“A portion of the proceeds from ‘Forever Loving You’ will benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, non-profit organization which provides programs and services for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, as well as funds research towards a cure for Alzheimer’s. True work of angels.”
Decades ago, Tanya Tucker dated Glen Campbell but their relationship did not last and the two had to part ways. Despite the end of their blissful romance, Tucker’s genuine continued to genuinely care for the late country legend, and this was something she perfectly conveyed in the lyrics of Forever Loving You:
If I could spend just one more minute with you before you have to go/ If I could see you one more time before you have to leave this world/ I’d hold you in my arms tonite just like we used to do/ I could leave this world a happy girl, forever loving you.
