Annually, many artists in the country music industry are turning hopeful to snatch at least one of the coveted Grammy Awards. Presented by The Recording Academy, the program recognizes the artists in music who gained more popular interest during a particular year. The Grammy Awards confers honors based on various categories. It’s surprising though that there are several country musicians who have never won a single award despite their proven stardom. In this article, we chose to feature two superstars of the above-said music genre who have zero Grammy award throughout their career.
1. Kenny Chesney
Since Chesney started his music career in the early ’90s up to the present, he has already recorded 20 albums. Fourteen of which have been certified Gold or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Moreover, the singer produced over 40 singles that reached the US Billboard Country Hot Songs as well as the Country Airplay charts’ Top 10. Currently, he has a total of 29 number one songs. Also, most of his tracks became successful crossover hits having charted on the Top 40 of Billboard Hot 100. Despite these achievements, he never made it to the Grammy Awards. His 2016 album Cosmic Hallelujah, received a nomination for Best Country Album making it his sixth Grammy nomination. Unfortunately, he lost the award to fellow country music artist Chris Stapleton with his From A Room: Volume 1.
2. Blake Shelton
Although Blake Shelton started his music career at a later date as compared to Kenny Chesney, the singer-songwriter has equally proven his worth as a country musician. A total of eleven studio albums were released under his name. Additionally, he has three extended plays, four compilation albums, and released thirty-seven singles in total. Of this 11 studio albums, five have been certified Platinum and four Gold. Apart from his career in the music industry, he’s also a renowned television personality. While continuously producing new music, he also serves as one of the coaches of The Voice. Meanwhile, Shelton received more Grammy nominations than Chesney did. But just like the latter, Shelton never took any of the prize home.
Maybe, it’s not yet the right time for Kenny and Blake to really shine at the Grammy. But when both have finally made it, that will truly be another breakthrough in their respective career. For now, below is a video featuring the winners of the recently held Grammy Awards.
