Miracles indeed happen every day and today this special miracle comes with a little melody and groove as the Sister Act cast reunited with Whoopi Goldberg in The View to celebrate the movie’s 25th anniversary after its first run in 1992.
Sister Act, The View
Who could ever forget the character of Deloris Van Cartier slash Sister Mary Clarence? A character that was sweetly and skillfully played by Whoopi Goldberg who was a flick lounge singer that found sanctuary in a convent after her boyfriend killed a man and she was a witness.
In a very spirited performance, Whoopi Goldberg was joined by her other co-stars such as Wendy Makkena who played May Robert, Kathy Najimy (Mary Patrick), Sherri Izzard, Darleen Koldenhoven, Beth Fowler, Andrea Robinson and Prudence Holmes. Marc Shaiman was on the piano.
Original Mother Superior, Maggie Smith was not able to join the interview and performance so she sent an adorable video with the message:
“I have such fond memories of when we did those crazy, crazy, crazy films, I send you lots of love.”
Sister Act, Beginnings
Dubbed as one of the funniest movies of all time, Sister Act joins the elite rank of successful comedy and musical movies that also taps on religion. It was also very successful financially as it grossed $231 million worldwide. It was also well acclaimed by the film critics holding a whopping 71% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It also received two Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture and for Goldberg bagging the Best Actress in Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.
Watch their heavenly performance here and reminisce for yourself:
“I Will Follow Him”
I will follow Him,
Follow Him where ever he may go
And near Him I always will be,
For nothing can keep me away;
He is my destiny.
I will follow Him.
Ever since he touched my heart I knew
There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away,
Away from his love
I love him, I love Him, I love Him
And where he goes I’ll follow,
I’ll follow, I’ll follow
i will follow him, movie, reunion, sister act
