For the first time since their divorce in 2015, ex-couples Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will step foot on the same stage in a one-night-only Elvis Presley Special. Lambert will be performing with her Pistol Annies bandmates, Ashley Monroe andAngaleena Presley.
In addition, other big names in the music industry will also grace the event such as Carrie Underwood, Shawn Mendes, Jennifer Lopez, John Fogerty, and many more. It will be an unforgettable tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, in honor of his world-famous ’68 Comeback Special.
For over 50 years, on December 3, 1968, Elvis Presley set the stage on fire with his impeccable television performance like no other. It was his first performance on TV in more than seven years of being away from the limelight. This was the biggest event of the year for most of his fans. In fact, it became the no. 1 rated show for NBC during that season.
Today, NBC is honoring the legacy left by The King. Presley is one of the biggest names in all of music, hence, such a magical night filled with tributes is just worthy for him.
Dubbed the Elvis All-Star Tribute, this one-night-only special will definitely be a grand event that everyone doesn’t want to miss!
In a press release, producer Ken Ehrlich stated:
“I can remember sitting in front of my television set and watching the Elvis special. I already knew that I could never do what he did as an artist, but seeing that show had a great deal to do with my dreams of having a career in television production.”Ken Ehrlich
Aside from the big artists giving Presley a tribute, the show will surely bring rare footages of his performances across the world.
Country singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert seem to be okay with their lives now and have probably moved on with what happened to them. However, the event will all be about Presley and not them.
Shelton will be performing a few of Presley’s hits, plus, he will also be taking up hosting duties. Meanwhile, Lambert and her Pistol Annies band will take on the song “LoveMe.” On the other hand, fellow country singer Carrie Underwood will team up with gospel singer Yolanda Adams for a gospel medley.
This will surely be a night of voice and talent, but above all, it will be about The King himself, Elvis Presley.
The special will air on Sunday, February 17th at 9 PM EST/PST.
