Shania Twain’s “Forever and For Always”: Inspiration of One True Love

Shania Twain's "Forever and For Always": Inspiration of One True Love 1

Ever wondered what song Shania Twain considers as her favorite song? Well, every artist loves their songs simply because it is their own. But one does not deny the fact that he/she still chooses one over the other. This does not exclude Twain from picking her favorite from among her great songs.

The Song

Co-written by Mutt Lange and Shania Twain, Forever and For Always was Twain’s third country single from her fourth studio album Up! in 2002. It was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2004, Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. However, it lost in both categories. In spite of this, the song was named Song of the Year at both the 2004 BMI Country Songwriter Awards and 2004 European BMI Awards.

Inspiration

Twain considers the song as one of her favorites. She said there is something inspirational to hear about people who start relationships when they are kids and are still in love when they are older. Part of the lyrics of the song goes

In your arms,
I can still feel the way you want me when you hold me,
I can still hear the words you whispered when you told me,
I can stay right here forever in your arms

And there ain’t no way
I’m letting you go now
And there ain’t no way
And there ain’t no how
I’ll never see that day

‘Cause I’m keeping you forever and for always
We will be together all of our days
Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face
Always

It is evident in these lyrics alone what Twain want to reveal in her song. There is joy; there is satisfaction. There is warmth; there is love forever and for always

Critics’ View

Shania Twain’s taste of music never goes out of fashion. She easily translates her emotions into her songs. In addition, she conveys messages that are so close to the hearts of those who are in love, be it the youth or the young at heart.

Furthermore, Forever and For Always is an epitome of such a Shania Twain trademark. Aside from From This Moment On, and You’re Still the One, this song is for those who believe in forever… and always.

Indeed, Shania Twain is one great, true and effective singer and lyricist.
