Nowadays, we are waiting patiently for the second coming of the Lord for us to be reunited with Him. In spite of this, are we ready when we will meet the Lord in heaven? My mom always says,
“Follow the teachings of God and the Bible for the Lord will come like a thieve in the night”
I understood what my mom meant when I started attending bible schools. For Christian believers, they always cling on to this bible verse,
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also”
John 14:2-3
“The Quartet”
This gospel singing group is commercially known as “The Statler Brothers,” they were formed in 1955. In addition, they were back up for Johnny Cash in 1964. Just like other artists, the group started performing gospel songs on local churches. Further, they rose to fame when they released their hit “Flowers on the Wall” and “Bed of Roses’s”.
Throughout their career, they never forgot where they started which is gospel, as Harold Ried said,
“We took gospel harmonies, and put them over in country music.”
Also, they remained close to their gospel roots and continuously recording gospel songs. In fact, every album they recorded had at least one gospel song.
“When You are Called”
One of the gospel hymns that talks about the second coming of the Lord is the song “When The Roll is Called Up Yonder.” This was written in 1893 and it was inspired by the “Book of Life.” Its theme is being ready once the Lord will come to get us.
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there
I mean, who wouldn’t be excited to see our creator face to face when the time comes? Even more, the version of “The Statler Brothers” is nice because they sang it with a joyful heart and with excitement.
Some people are afraid because they are not yet ready to meet the Lord, maybe they cannot distance themselves yet from the worldly pleasures. But. let us reflect on ourselves. What will happen to us if we will stay in this world swimming in the pool of sin? Let us not forget, end times is approaching and we need to be prepared.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad”.
2 Corinthians 5:10
