‘Show Hope’ was a non-profit organization that Christian singer, Steven Curtis Chapman founded together with his wife, Mary Beth. Its philanthropic goal is to find orphans their dream family and make it an ultimate reality. Following this wonderful charitable event was Chapman’s benefit concert with the banner of ‘Sam’s Place: Music for the Spirit’ to help raise funds for the said organization. One of his guests on the final show was Scotty McCreery who did not disappoint as usual when he was asked to sing with the acclaimed Christian singer.

I Saw the Light, Scotty McCreery ft Steven Curtis Chapman

Scotty McCreery joined Steven Curtis Chapman in a powerful duet of Hank Williams Sr’ ‘I Saw the Light.’ It was a major treat for those who are fans of country gospel as these two artists are clearly the best coming from their respective genres. Steven Curtis Chapman blended well with Scotty McCreery in terms of giving the song a touch of heaven and twang.

Williams was inspired to write the song in January 1947 while returning from a show in Fort Deposit, Alabama. His mother, Lilly, drove him and the band back to Montgomery that night. As she was approaching the city, she spotted the lights of Dannelly Field Airport. Williams, who slept inebriated in the backseat of the car, was roused by his mother, who told him “I just saw the light”, announcing him that they were close to Montgomery. He wrote the first draft on January 26, 194.

I Saw The Light Lyrics

I wandered so aimless life filled with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

I was a fool to wander and a-stray
Straight is the gate and narrow the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
