There has been much talk about how the women of Country are outperforming the men when it comes to the excellence of music. There were many reasons plated following that point. However, we have not talked about some of the men that if simply given a chance, could sprout an instant dose of an ingredient into the country music format. They just need comparable odds to their female equals. The lack of talent has never been country music’s problem. It has been distinguishing that talent and letting it flourish by voicing its uniqueness and creativeness. Here are seven fast-rising men who, right now, could make country format instantly improved.

The Fast-Rising Men of Present-day Country Music Part I 3

Sturgill Simpson

Simpson is already making breaks out there on the road presenting for Dwight Yoakam. He has one of the best organizations and engagement teams behind him. You are lucky if you ever had a chance to watch him when he started solo with country music in 2013. Self-assured to take the country music world by storm, Sturgill’s debut solo album High Top Mountain blew the doors off of country music. Everything is in place. The next question is, will country music pay courtesy?

Will Hoge

Let me tell you this. You have been hearing Will Hoge on the mainstream country radio. Just that, his songs are sung by others. Hoge is one of those composers who has been right on the edge of breaking through for fifteen years but has always just been one vital puzzle part away. Eli Young Band had a hit last year with his song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”. Sadly, that time, Hoge did not even have a publishing deal. Recently, Lady Antebellum recorded his song “Better Off Now.”

Though Will has fought to find the best break to take his music to the next level, he is a tested performer. He has proven his excellence as a songwriter opening up new melodies. He positively challenges other male performers and writers to release material that is more formidable. Luckily, Will is now with BMG Nashville as a songwriter.

Evan Felker, the Turnpike Troubadours

You may not be able to find a better sample of a songwriter that can bring true country material yet still find demand with the crowd. Felker songs like “Every Girl” “7 & 7” and “Good Lord, Lorrie” are just shouting to be cut by a bigger name. The hardest thing for a Red Dirt Texas country band to do is to make that change from regional stars to national acknowledgment. They have to do it without flashing their hair with highlights or releasing songs with clear goals at radio success. The next years are very critical for this band. However, if Nashville had any sense, they would step on the Turnpike Troubadours bandwagon now.
