Say the name Reba McEntire and it will easily be recognized, not only in the country music world but to the whole music industry. She is but a music icon to reckon, and words to describe her ain’t enough to be enumerated.

Indeed, Reba McEntire is known for her amazing voice and success in the music industry. According to Classic Country Music, McEntire announced some time ago that she would release a gospel record titled, “Sing it Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.” This would be her first time having a gospel record and everyone’s excited about this.

Sing it Now: Songs of Faith & Hope

The album contains 11 tracks and the first single released is “Back to God.” McEntire also shared with fans the video and it is truly heartfelt and will leave you speechless. It captures moments of pain at a funeral, of faith while at church and just knowing that no matter what, God is always there.

Some of the lyrics talk about praying, giving thanks to God through different situations and just taking time out to talk to him.

A Grammy-winning Song

Reba McEntire was in shock when she unexpectedly won the Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album on January 28, 2018, in New York City. Her honest acceptance speech brought laughter, a few tears, and heavy applause.

The country singer won for a gospel album, something she recognizes as unusual if nothing else. Once handed her Grammy statuette McEntire remembered first talking about recording Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, insinuating that it was out of her comfort zone.

“I’m a country artist,” she exclaimed, leading the crowd to laugh. “But I’ve been singing these songs that’s on this album all my life, on the pond down at Grandma’s house singing ‘Oh, How I Love Jesus …’ and it’s so great to get those songs on an album.”

From there the 62-year-old got even more personal. The album in many ways seemed to be her calling, and she took the opportunity to remind everyone just how much she appreciated being in a position to answer.

“Our job in the entertainment business is to heal hearts. That’s what God put me on this earth for, I know it is. To help other people. I love my job. I’m so grateful to get to do it.”

Then after thanking her record label, she said, “I’m gonna give this back to God.”

“Back to God”

Back to God” was the only single from Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.

In 2008, singer Randy Houser’s debut album Anything Goes produced a pair of hits in the title track and the stomping rocker “Boots On.” That collection also contained a song called “Back to God” that Houser wrote with Dallas Davidson and performed live on occasion but never released to radio. That track, with its call for spiritual renewal, was one of Reba McEntire’s favorites from the album.

McEntire said,

“When Randy didn’t release it as a single, I thought, hmm, maybe someday I get to do that.”

The message of “Back to God” – handing things over to a higher power in the face of grief and struggle – was one she felt like fit with her many themes of faith on Sing It Now, which bundles 10 classic hymns with 10 more contemporary songs.

“I had to make it different because his [version] was so good,” says McEntire. “So we got it on there, but it’s a great song! Everybody was saying, ‘Oh my gosh, we need this, we need this song right now.’ Well, we’ve always needed this song.”

McEntire continued,

“They have a common goal: get closer to god. Talk about god. Fellowship. So when they get in the church, everybody has that oneness, that feeling of yes, we’re a group. Small group, large group, doesn’t matter.”

Indeed, Reba is at her absolute best in this powerful single from her gospel album “Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope.”
