If, say, for instance, one morning Jesus suddenly appears in front of your door, what will you do? Will you be ready for it? Before having a short discussion on this topic let’s listen to a song related to Jesus’ near coming. This gospel song entitled “Jesus is Coming Soon” was composed by R.E. Winsett in 1942. It received the title Song of the Year awarded by the 1st GMA Dove Awards in 1969. Here’s one of its notable versions of The Oak Ridge Boys.
I hope the tune somehow inspired you to be more set mentally, emotionally and spiritually as Christ may come anytime soon. As Christians, we were taught by the Holy Bible about the second coming of Jesus. And this will happen without prior notice. However, we can read several passages from the Bible about God warning us of Jesus’ return to the world. Along with these warnings are encouragements for us to be prepared at all times. This is because Jesus is returning in great wrath “to judge and wage war” (Rev. 19:11). And because God loves us that much, He doesn’t want any of us to perish. Instead, He wants that all would be brought to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
God Warns Us of Jesus’ Coming
Many of the things we experience today are part of God’s warning that Jesus’ return is indeed approaching. These signs emanate from nature (calamities); from the society (lawlessness, immorality, and despair). There are also spiritual signs such as the appearance of false Christs and their cults. Even the advancement in technology has signs with them of Christ’s return. There will be signs of world politics which characterize the end time geopolitical map. And the most important of all are the signs of Israel. The re-established state of Israel will be the main focus of besieging by menacing nations.
Undeniably, the signs of times are upon us and they’re shouting for our attention. Are you ready? Have you committed your life to holiness? Folks, I’d like to share with you these words of encouragement. If you haven’t accepted Jesus yet as your Savior, now is the time to act. Let us all repent of our sins and call upon the name of the Lord that we might be saved (Acts 2:14-39).
