See Patsy Cline’s Ode to Love Eclipsing Sanity in “Crazy”

Penned by another legend in his own right, Willie Nelson did not realize that handing over the song ‘Crazy’ to Patsy Cline was his road to becoming one of the most bankable names in the songwriting industry. This day of Eclipses might have a different meaning to everyone but we present you a different kind of eclipse, the one brought by Patsy Cline in the song ‘crazy.’

Crazy, Patsy Cline

It is really crazy to think that Patsy Cline would record her chart-topping hit just two months after a car crash that almost ended her life. Of course, we all know that Cline was about to lose her last breath on a different mode of transportation. Still, we see Patsy Cline soaring high as a country superstar before the event of her unfortunate demise.

Willie Nelson, unaware of his own curve in the country scene and was still a struggling song writer pitched the song to Cline’s husband, Charlie Dick at a bar one evening. Dick took Nelson’s track and play for Cline. Cline did not really have a good impression about the song and exclaimed that she was annoyed of Nelson’s version. Nonetheless, Cline ended up recording her version of it after it was rearranged by Clines’ producer Owen Bradley.

It was undeniably a timeless hit.

“Crazy” Lyrics by Patsy Cline

Crazy
I’m crazy for feeling so lonely
I’m crazy
Crazy for feeling so blue

I knew
You’d love me as long as you wanted
And then some day
You’d leave me for somebody new

Worry
Why do I let myself worry?
Wondering
What in the world did I do?

Oh, crazy
For thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying
And crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you

Crazy
For thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying
And crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you
