In 2004, Norah Jones was “creepin’” with country legend Dolly Parton. I mean the two collaborated with one of Jones’ songs “Creepin’ In.” Jones and Parton melded their voices at the hand of bluegrass and the outcome it was angelic.
But first, “creepin’” means browsing through pictures, walls-to-walls, videos, and general information on Facebook profiles of people whom you actually would not usually talk to in person.
Moreover, Dolly Parton is no doubt one of the best country artists of all time. She is indeed a legend. Also, she is one of the female best-selling country singers. Meanwhile, Norah Jones has proven a lot from her choice of music and awards she bagged. Additionally, her albums are certified platinum, making her one of the most successful artists of her generation.
So to say, their combination has struck the music lovers inside and outside of country music. And besides, Norah Jones has recorded some country songs, too. She changes genres from time to time. But literally, Jones is into jazz, blues, folk and of course country.
The Collaboration…
It was an easy decision for Parton to collaborate with Jones. This is for the reason that she fits the tune of bluegrass. She was reminded of Hank Williams’ song “Hey Good Lookin’” and with some similar songs. For her, it brought back memories of the past especially the country music before.
As for Jones, she didn’t expect what the outcome would be great. Their voices match with the song perfectly. Jones has a lot of kind words for Parton. Jones admired Parton’s girly yet firm voice. It came out a good song or should I say an outstanding song?
The Nomination…
Due to positive feedback and criticisms for their performance, Jones and Parton were nominated as “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.” This was at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, they didn’t bag the award. Nevertheless, their nomination only proved their vocal duo’s success.
It can be seen in the video how comfortable Jones and Parton is when they’re together. Not only that their voices match but also their personalities. They have lots of good words towards each other. It’s just so overwhelming seeing these two great artists together.
