Singers united for the celebration of Willie Nelson’s 70th birthday. Bringing together different music genres were Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Ray Price, Steven Tyler, and ZZ Top. Shania Twain was also present, and she gave a standout performance as she shared the stage with the birthday celebrant.

Their duet, which was accompanied by Nelson’s guitar strumming, showcased their vocal range in a cover of one of Willie’s hits, Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain. The song was part of his 1975 album, The Red Headed Stranger. It was also this particular album that sprang his singing career to life, having been the singer-songwriter’s first of many succeeding no.1 songs. Twain was enjoying every moment of the performance, pouring her heart out through the harmony and lyrics of the song.
Willie Nelson, born on the 29th of April, 1933, is an American singer and songwriter. He is also a renowned actor, activist, poet, and musician. His genres include rock, outlaw country, and country. Nelson was born during the Great Depression in Abbott, Texas. It would seem that his grandfather was the first person to introduce him to the world of music. He taught him a few chords on the guitar when he was six. His initial tryout in the music industry took place in 1956. He recorded and released his first album, No Place for Me. Although the record did not end up being successful, Nelson continued to pursue music, making several appearances in a nightclub in Colorado. He went through many hardships as well, moved to different places and even had a son. Finally, after moving to Austin Texas and deciding to play with his own band, Willie Nelson slowly rose to fame. Their music depicted influences from jazz, folk, and country genres. Likewise, the so-called ‘hippie music’, was just beginning to make waves in radios across the globe.
Among the other hits that resulted in Willie Nelson’s artistic gift are Funny How Time Slips Away, Crazy, and Pretty Paper. All songs were performed by renowned artists in the industry, namely Billy Walker, Patsy Cline and Roy Orbison. Throughout his career, Nelson also faced numerous legal accounts involving his possession of marijuana. He had been arrested for all the times he was caught carrying the said substance with him in the airport.
Twain meanwhile debuted her career in music in 1983. Born as Eilleen Regina Edwards, Shania Twain initially toured with the band ‘Flirt’ led by Diane Chase, all over Ontario. She was also taking music lessons from Ian Garrett while she worked with the band. Toronto DJ Stan Campbell also took notice of Shania’s
Incredible vocal talent. In an interview, the DJ expressed that Twain’s vocal talent encompasses a tremendous musical range. Shania also became good friends with the then regional country singer, Mary Bailey. From 1993 to 1994, Shania Twain assembled her songs to produce a demo tape and submitted it to various record executives. What followed is a massive bout of success for the lovely crooner.
