I have watched the movie when I was a kid. I have always been a fan of meteor showers, space adventure, and all those of sci-fi stuff. Right then, I heard the song ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ and has become one of my favorites.

A power ballad performed by American hard rock band Aerosmith – ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ is the well-known soundtrack for the 1998 film Armageddon. It was written by Diane Warren and the song debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Diane Warren was inspired to write the song by a 1997 Barbara Walters interview with James Brolin and Barbara Streisand. In a portion, Brolin said he missed Streisand when they were asleep, and Warren wrote down the words “I don’t want to miss a thing” before there was even a song. This is the band’s first after 28 years of being together. Also, the song helped open up Aerosmith to a new generation and remained a slow dance essential.

It’s a joy to know that my favorite song also has its country version. The man who made it possible was Mark Chesnutt.

Country or Rock Version:‘I Don't Want To Miss A Thing’ 1

Chesnutt is known for his neotraditional country and honky-tonk influences. He has charted singles that were previously recorded by John Anderson, Don Gibson, Conway Twitty, and Charlie Rich. Then, he also recorded collaborations with Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, George Jones and others.  His greatest chart success between 1990 and 2002 was recording for Decca branches. He had a total of eight albums between those two labels. His late 1998-early 1999 cover of Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a thing’ topped the country charts and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100. It was Chestnutt’s third and final studio album for Decca.

The bulk ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ is smooth new country. While Aerosmith’s rendition was over the top, Chesnutt tames the beast, even as the arrangement builds real country climax toward the end. On ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’, Chesnutt proves he can sing power ballads with the best of them.
