Miranda Lambert & Green Day in Country-Punk Collab

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Green Day teamed up with queen country singer Miranda Lambert for a re-recording of their song, Ordinary World. The song, which was originally released in 2016 as part of their album, Revolution Radio, was given a country-punk twist for their brand new album, Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band. The album was recently released on November 17.

The punk trio’s latest album features a collection of their best-known hits in the span of their career. It contains songs from as early as their 1991 album, Kerplunk, to more recent tunes from their 2016 album, Revolution Radio. There will also be a new song included in Greatest Hits, and the title is Back in the USA.

Although this was not the first time Miranda Lambert and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong have traded vocals, the collaboration of the highly acclaimed artists from different genres was a huge surprise for the fans. During the 2014 Grammy Awards, Lambert and Armstrong performed a sweet acoustic rendition of 1960 hit When Will I Be Loved as a tribute to the deceased Phil Everly.

Not only that, Armstrong has also had his try in country music. One of the projects he worked on in 2013 involved releasing a cover version of Foreverly, a song that was part of the Everly Brothers’ 1958 album, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. Armstrong’s recording also featured vocal contributions from hit singer and songwriter, Norah Jones.

This time, Lambert and Armstrong have worked so well once again in blending their vocals to produce a note-worthy and delightful tune. Miranda Lambert’s powerful vocals, Billie Armstrong’s smooth, narrative melody, along with the band’s distinctive guitars and drums in the background all wrap up so perfectly together to create a most fitting new background for the lyrics that go, Where can I find the city of shining light/ In an ordinary world?/ How can I leave a buried treasure behind?/ In an ordinary world?/ What would you wish if you saw a shooting star/ In an ordinary world?/ I’d walk to the end of the earth and afar/ In an ordinary world.
