The Nation’s Shield

A soldier is the pride of his nation. He defends the honor of his motherland with his life and blood. He has to rise above his own self to defend his nation. His profession brings out the best qualities in him like chivalry, discipline, team spirit, loyalty, and steadfastness. Moreover, his example serves as a beacon of light to others who are tame and cowardly. His life is a source of inspiration to the youth of the nation. He has no politics in his makeup. He serves the nation to the best of his ability.

We love the soldier as much as, if not more than as the scholar, the statesman and the poet. The soldier embodies in himself the sprite of youth.

The life of a soldier is very tough and full of discipline. He has to be mentally and physically alert and keep his body in fine shape for any battles that may come up. His performance in the theatres of war has been heroic and daring. He is the finest specimen of humanity who is prepared to give the supreme sacrifice of his life for the lives of his fellow countrymen. He has to brave the tyrannies of nature and in thunder, lightning or rain, extreme hot or cold, in deserts, mountain or seas, day and night fight continuously for the knowledge of his nation. Not to mention, he has to sacrifice his family life, be away from his children, only to the save the life of other children.

Prayer for Our Soldiers

Here’s a short prayer for soldiers that we can include in our prayer intentions every day. The strongest shield we can ever have is constant prayer.

Lord,

We come to you proclaiming that you are all powerful and all loving. You are our tower of strength. You are our ever – present help in times of trouble. We come to you with thankful hearts for all the blessings you have given our country. Our hearts are also filled with thankfulness to those who serve our country in the armed forces. Their love for our country and for our people is inspiring.

Father, we are reminded that our soldiers fight many personal battles, and we ask that today you would intervene in their lives and help each one individually.

Lord, we know that there are times when each one suffers from loneliness, homesickness, exhaustion, sadness, fear, extreme weather conditions, personal physical conditions, and a myriad of other difficulties. We ask that every need would be ministered to this day. Also, we ask that you would come to each one and ease their personal challenges and give each one renewed hope and cheer. We ask that you would refresh each one this day in every way.

Amen.

God Bless Our Brave Men!

There are not enough words to express our gratitude and thanks to the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces to protect us.  Thank you all for your bravery and service.  Aside from God, you are the reason why we can sleep at night. We love you all, and we are praying for you.  For those of us who are not in the armed forces, let’s pray daily for our brave soldiers, pilots, marines, people in the navy and every other facet of the armed forces.  They deserve our prayers. May God bless you all as you live a life worthy of the calling.
