Spiritually on Point: “Anyway” by Martina McBride

There’s no shortage of singers with superb vocal ranges and versatile styles. Nonetheless, only a few can sing in a way that captivates the listeners. Martina McBride possesses this prowess which sets her apart from the multitude of talented artists.

Her co-written song titled Anyway can rightfully be called a musical genius in terms of lyrical value and lasting significance. Observe the following wording.

“Build it anyway”
“Dream it anyway”
“Do it anyway”
“Believe it anyway”
“Love ’em anyway”
“Sing it anyway”

Simple yet powerful. Such characterizes a song that has the potential to become a classic. This is a feat for many lyricists and Martina McBride was able to break through. Adding to the already phenomenal composition is a sensational music video. Have a good watch first.

Martina’s Inspiration

It’s likely that many haven’t heard of The Paradoxical Commandments by Dr. Keith. What most may be familiar with is Mother Teresa’s quotation of Dr. Keith’s poem. Here’s the full poem.

The adversities mentioned were similar to the ones presented in Anyway. Since they happen to all, Martina opted to personalize it. Though the idea isn’t original, she owned the song by channeling the remembrance of her own experiences. Thus, turning Anyway into a memorable song of faith.

We’re All Part of the Bigger Plan

Every line in Anyway is meaningful but Martina’s particularly moved with this part,

This world’s gone crazy
It’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

In an interview with CMT, she revealed her tendency to cave in fear when she hears or reads news about global catastrophes. Such makes her anxious about the future. Remembering the aforementioned verse helps her to believe that humanity isn’t doomed. There is a God who is above time and his plan is bigger than our immediate contexts.

So thank you, Martina, for this beautiful song! You’re one of the few artists who not only impart talents through songs.  You also encourage every listener to put their faith in God instead of themselves.
